The "Check 21 Act", also known as Bank Check 21, is a recent law written by Congress in the wake of 9/11 to speed up the handling of checks in the banking system. Bank Check 21 is short for "The Check Clearing for the 21st Century Act" and provides new rules for both banks and check manufacturers. Under Bank Check 21, check backgrounds will be lighter to aid banks in scanning cancelled checks which are printed in a reduced format for return to you. Unfortunately, the backs of the checks, showing who cashed or deposited your checks, are missing.

Omaha police are asking the public to help find a suspected thief. An 80-year-old man says Edward Mason came to his home last week claiming he had done work on his roof within the past year. Mason was allowed access to the roof and talked the man into fixing some damage for $7,000.
